Greenville Tech Charter High School to host Coalition of Essential Schools visit

November 6, 2008

Greenville Technical Charter High School is hosting visitors from the Coalition of Essential Schools annual Fall Forum being held Nov. 6-8 in Charlotte, NC.

Conference attendees from across the nation will make a day-long visit to the Greenville school and receive first-hand information on the Early College/Middle College public school choice program.

Early College/Middle College places high school students on a college campus, allowing them to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an Associate's Degree.  The program features small class sizes and is traditionally offered to 10th through 12th graders.

The visitors will go into classrooms, meet with teachers and administrators and participate in small learning community dialogue activities.  Greenville Tech Charter High School was chosen as an exemplary program from among hundreds of Coalition of Essential School sites.

More information is available on the South Carolina Department of Education's Early College/Middle College web page or from Julie Anna Hartwell by phone (803-734-8368) or by e-mail.
