- Program Description
- Advancement Via Individual Determination, AVID, is designed to provide opportunaties for the student who traditionally performs in the average range to achieve at a higher levels. These students are provided opportunities to engage in rigorous academic curriculum, receive instruction in organization and study skills, and learn the skills necessary to become leaders in school activities. Students increase their readiness for a four-year college experience and learn the skills necessary to become repsonsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.

- The mission of AVID is to provide opportunities for the student who traditionally performs in the average academic range to achieve at a higher level and to complete a rigorous college preparatory path.
- Program Attendance Requirements
- AVID operates as a district choice program within a designated middle school and provides all academic and related arts instruction daily. Students must meet state attendance requirements.
- Area of Academic or Career Focus
- AVID offers a rigorous curriculum in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students also participate in an AVID exploratory class throughout the year. In this class students focus on specifc instruction in organization and study skills, learn strategies to improve performance in academic classes, and develop work habits needed for success in high school and college.
